A Vision for my Funeral!

When everyone walks in, it is bright and cheery.  Music is playing – the chorus of “Celebration” (with a few of the lyrics modified):

Celebrate good times, come on!

Celebrate good times, come on!

There’s a party goin’ on right here

A celebration to last throughout the years

So bring your good times and your laughter too

We gonna celebrate your party with you

Come on now, celebration

Let’s all celebrate and have a good time

Celebration

We gonna celebrate and have a good time

It’s time to come to Jesus

It’s up to you, what’s your decision?

Everyone around the world come on!

Maybe even disco lights are flashing around.  There would be a power point playing in the front showing verses about the benefits of dying in Christ and eternal perspective.  For example:

ecclesiastes 7:2 (niv)
It is better to go to a house of mourning than to go to a house of feasting, for death is the destiny of every man; the living should take this to heart.

jonah 4:3 (niv)
Now, O LORD, take away my life, for it is better for me to die than to live.

1-corinthians 15:21-22 (niv)
For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive.

2-corinthians 5:1-4 (niv)
Now we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands. Meanwhile we groan, longing to be clothed with our heavenly dwelling, because when we are clothed, we will not be found naked. For while we are in this tent, we groan and are burdened, because we do not wish to be unclothed but to be clothed with our heavenly dwelling, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life.

philippians 1:21 (niv)
For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.

1-thessalonians 4:13-14 (niv)
Brothers, we do not want you to be ignorant about those who fall asleep, or to grieve like the rest of men, who have no hope. We believe that Jesus died and rose again and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.

psalms 90:12 (niv)
Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.

proverbs 29:25 (niv)
Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the LORD is kept safe.

mark 13:12-13 (niv)
“Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child. Children will rebel against their parents and have them put to death. All men will hate you because of me, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved.”

romans 8:18 (niv)
I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.

2-corinthians 4:14-18 (niv)
because we know that the one who raised the Lord Jesus from the dead will also raise us with Jesus and present us with you in his presence. All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God. Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

2-timothy 1:12 (niv)
That is why I am suffering as I am. Yet I am not ashamed, because I know whom I have believed, and am convinced that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him for that day.

1-peter 1:3-5 (niv)
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade –kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.

And everyone gets a copy of the Bible and “I Don’t Have Enough Faith to be an Atheist”.

When the preacher gives the message, he gives the Gospel and shares the confidence that I have that I’m in heaven.  Many repent and come to faith!  Praise God!
