Christianity is not a blind faith, it is a faith based on the eye witness testimony of those who died to proclaim what they saw – Part 2

Passage Reference Passage Text
2 Peter 1:16 (NIV) We did not follow cleverly invented stories when we told you about the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eye witnesses of His majesty.
Acts 1:3 (NLT) During the forty days after His crucifixion, He appeared to the apostles from time to time, and He proved to them in many ways that He was actually alive.
1 John 1:1-3a (NLT) The One who existed from the beginning is the One we have heard and seen. We saw Him with our own eyes and touched Him with our own hands. He is Jesus Christ, the Word of life. This One Who is life from God was shown to us, and we have seen Him. And now we testify and announce to you that He is the One Who is eternal life. He was with the Father, and then He was shown to us. We are telling you about what we ourselves have actually seen and heard, so that you may have fellowship with us.

Memory Verses

I was involved in a talent show last night at my church, and my act was reciting memory verses.  During the act I utilized a web site I built to assist me in this.  It is available to anyone that would like to use it.  If any of you would like to access this, go to http://www.coolgadgetssoftware.com and click on the link at the top of the page that says “Memory Verses Site”.  You can choose a login and start adding verses to your list.

This site should work on your computer, smart phone or other modern mobile device.  I use it on my computer and my Android phone all the time, although it has not yet been tested on iPhone, but it should work.  I would be interested in feedback specifically from iPhone/iPad users.

I’ve pre-loaded 555 passages that you can select from, or you can just search and add your own.  If you have any questions about it, let me know.

Feel free to pass this along to anyone who you think may find it useful!

Blessings,

Steve

Christianity is not a blind faith, it is a faith based on the eye witness testimony of those who died to proclaim what they saw – Part 1

1 Corinthians 15:4-8 (NLT) He [Christ] was buried, and He was raised from the dead on the third day, as the Scriptures said. He was seen by Peter and then by the twelve apostles. After that, He was seen by more than five hundred of His followers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have died by now. Then He was seen by James and later by all the apostles. Last of all, I [Paul] saw Him, too, long after the others, as though I had been born at the wrong time.

Biblical Worldview post #42 – When we repent and trust in Christ, upon death we get a new super charged body and eternal life in Heaven – Part 2

Christian Basics: When we repent and trust in Christ, upon death we get a new super charged body and eternal life in Heaven – Part 2

2 Corinthians 5:1-5 (NLT) For we know that when this earthly tent we live in is taken down — when we die and leave these bodies — we will have a home in heaven, an eternal body made for us by God Himself and not by human hands. We grow weary in our present bodies, and we long for the day when we will put on our heavenly bodies like new clothing. For we will not be spirits without bodies, but we will put on new heavenly bodies. Our dying bodies make us groan and sigh, but it’s not that we want to die and have no bodies at all. We want to slip into our new bodies so that these dying bodies will be swallowed up by everlasting life. God Himself has prepared us for this, and as a guarantee He has given us His Holy Spirit.

Christian Basics: When we repent and trust in Christ, upon death we get a new super charged body and eternal life in Heaven – Part 1

Passage Reference Passage Text
1 Corinthians 15:42b-44a (NLT) Our earthly bodies, which die and decay, will be different when they are resurrected, for they will never die. Our bodies now disappoint us, but when they are raised, they will be full of glory. They are weak now, but when they are raised, they will be full of power. They are natural human bodies now, but when they are raised, they will be spiritual bodies.
1 Corinthians 2:9b (NIV) No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love Him
John 14:2 (NKJV) In My Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

Christian Basics: When we repent and trust in Christ, we are no longer condemned and have peace and reconciliation with God

Passage Reference Passage Text
Romans 8:1 (NLT) So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus.
Romans 5:1 (NLT) Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us.
Romans 8:38-39 (NIV) For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

  6. The need for apologetics today is crucial. Believers must realize that we are living in a post-Christian era with a host of worldviews vying continuously for people’s commitments and, indeed, for their very lives. We must face these challenges head-on. Apologetics does not supplant faith, it supplements it. Nor does it replace the Spirit’s working. Rather, the Holy Spirit uses apologetic arguments as vehicles for clarifying the truth of God’s Word. The same verses commanding us to preach the gospel also instructs us to constantly be prepared to correct, rebuke, and encourage with great patience and careful instruction (2 Tim. 4:2).  -Hank Hanegraaff (from, Witnessing by Defending the Faith?)

Designed as “a gathering for Christians and non-Christians alike focused on addressing essential, profound, and relevant questions about the Christian worldview,” this conference featured talks and Q&A forums with featured speakers Nabeel Quereshi, Cameron McAllister, and Alycia Wood. Jesus Died My Soul To Save

I woke up in the middle of the night last night and this song was running through my mind.  In my half-sleeping state, I began to contemplate its words, letting the reality of its truths bathe my soul.  This song really shows why the Christian can have true joy in any circumstance!

I stand amazed at Your love for me
That lonely night in Gethsemane
This sinner’s heart can’t help but thrill
To hear You pray Father not my will

What depth of love, what reach of grace
O how my grateful heart now aches
To sing it louder the refrain
Jesus died my soul to save!

Atonement full, applied to me
The blood that spilled at Calvary
Has swallowed all my guilt and shame
Now reconciled, in Jesus’ name

What depth of love, what reach of grace
O how my grateful heart now aches
To sing it louder the refrain
Jesus died my soul to save!

Oh such pleasure, oh such pain
The Father’s wrath and fury reign
On Christ Whom saints and angels praise
Jesus died my soul to save!

Come you broken bound by sin
And let your weary journey end
Come and lay your burdens down
Where mercy rules and peace abounds

What depth of love, what reach of grace
O how my grateful heart now aches
To sing it louder the refrain
Jesus died my soul to save!

I pray that this may bless you today and give you great assurance of the love of God for you and the severity of the consequences that He saved you from.  Here is a link to the song on youtube:
